Thanks for marking this as the answer. My Plustek Opticbook is now working normally under Win 8. Use VueScan to get them on your computer, and off your to-do list. My scanner, though perfectly good mechanically, had been orphaned heading into Windows 7. I selected "Vista", executed the Vista 64bit driver and the install went normally. This scanner is supported on Mac OS X We reverse engineered the Plustek OpticBook driver and included it in VueScan so you can keep using your old scanner.

Their drivers for 64bit XP and Vista collide with similar block.
driveg Sorry this didn't help. Do you have boxes full of photos in a drawer? In reply to frdm: Plustek folks do not answer my appeal for a Win8 64bit driver.
